Your Porsche transmission converts the enormous power generated by your engine into a controlled form that’s used to move your wheels at the desired speed. As time passes, transmission components will become damaged and need replacement. As your Porsche center, we’d like you to know some signs that you need to visit us for a transmission service.

Signs You Need a Transmission Service at Your Porsche Center

Illuminated Check Engine Light

The warning lights on your dash illuminate in response to any detected issue with the system they represent. The transmission doesn’t have a warning light, but any detected transmission issue causes the check engine light to illuminate. While this may seem strange, the engine and transmission are physically connected and work symbiotically to move your Porsche.

Sensors in the transmission will identify a problem with their connected component, and this information is sent to your Porsche computer. The computer will then illuminate the warning light immediately. If this warning light comes on, visit our service center right away. We’ll connect your computer to our diagnostic system to identify the source of the problem, then we’ll repair it.

Fluid Leak

Transmission fluid supplies the hydraulic power that enables the gears to shift smoothly, and it helps to cool and protect transmission components. Many components depend on friction to work effectively, and the fluid coats them in a protective covering to reduce damage. If your transmission loses fluid, the gears will lock up, and your transmission could seize.

Transmission fluid leaks are easy to identify, as transmission fluid is bright or dark red and has a slightly sweet smell. If you spot a leak, contact us immediately. Our technicians will investigate and trace the leak. The most common leak site is a worn transmission pan gasket. Replacing the damaged gasket will correct this issue.

Noisy Transmission

A Porsche transmission doesn’t make any sound as it smoothly shifts gears. Hearing any sound from the transmission is usually a sign that something has gone wrong. You might hear two of the most common noises: a slight buzzing or humming sound. It’s not easy to identify this noise when it begins, but it will gradually become louder as time passes.

If the issue isn’t repaired, the buzzing or humming noises could change to harsher sounds like clunking or whining. Fortunately, the most common cause of the noise is a low level of transmission fluid. Other issues that can cause this problem include a worn clutch linkage or a damaged torque converter.
We’ll examine your transmission and repair the problem.

Transmission problems are generally easy and quick to repair, especially if they’re detected when they first begin. Contact us today at Porsche West Broward in Davie, FL.
